I don't feel too bad about doing this either, because this week, the man I support for President of the USA came out in favor of mixing the two when he openly supported federal funding for faith-based initiatives. That's right, I'm a Jew for Obama. And as you can probably infer just from perusing StereoSinai.com, I'm also quite faith-based.
I don't know Senator Obama personally, but I do know that he represents me in Washington as an Illinoisan and a Chicagoan, and as a Liberal Democrat. I also know that the vast majority of Chicagoans (yes, including Jewish Chicagoans), support Barack Obama for president, so it's very surprising to me to read about the RABID anti-Obama rhetoric all over the Jewish web. And I'm not the only one. Y-Love, another kick-ass Jewish musician and blogger, wrote a piece on this very issue back in January, and even though he's not a Chicago Jew, I've got to agree completely.
So despite what the Jewish press would have you believe, and despite the deeply disturbed opinion some have that I should be afraid of him because his middle name is Hussein, and despite the barrage of hate-spewing anti-Muslim emails that have gone out to Jewish Americans since he announced his candidacy, I am hereby coming out as a Jewish Obama supporter. And I'm not afraid of backlash from anti-Obama Jews, because I know there are others like me. In fact, the only thing I'm afraid of now is the etiquette police.
